Nick Jonas has just unveiled the visual for his newest single “Anywhere,” featuring DJ Mustard.
The new music video for the house-heavy track sees Jonas and Mustard soundtrack a relationship that’s as passionate as it is rocky. Check out the video for “Anywhere” below.
Directed by James Mackel, the video sees Jonas and Mustard dancing to the dazzling house-infused anthem in a field with an LED screen blasting lights behind them—reminding us of Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For” music video.
Between the scenes of Jonas and Mustard jamming, the video is broken up with a montage of a dramatic young couple chronicling their torrid relationship, going through its highs and lows. The music video ends with the couple going their own ways, acting like strangers as the one boards a subway and leaves.
“Anywhere” is the first musical offering fans have received from Jonas in 2018. His last full LP, Last Year Was Complicated, which included the hit single “Close” featuring Tove Lo, was released back in 2016.
The new track was released earlier this month and is quite different for Jonas’ other singles, sounding more EDM than pop with a much dancier sound than his previous work.
“Collaborating with Mustard was amazing,” said Jonas in an interview with Billboard. “I think it’s exciting to step into this EDM side of things, and to have this collaboration as a first step out this year. I want to make music that people want to have a good time to. When people come to the show, for them to be able to dance and express themselves is kind of the greatest thing… It’s nice to be able to create music that gives people that opportunity, and I think this song encourages them.”
Jonas is reportedly releasing a new album sometime later this year, but details have not yet been announced.
