There’s no longer a reason to mourn, Barbz. It is your time to rise again. Well, at least for now anyway.
Everyone was caught off guard by Nicki Minaj’s abrupt resignation letter (ahem, tweet), announcing the rapper’s desire to step away from the music scene in order to start a family with her partner, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty. It’s looking like Minaj is already stepping out of retirement to drop a new collaborative track with Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock and producer Murda Beatz. It’s called “Fendi,” and in Minaj’s verse, you’ll hear why Fendi’s poppin’, and how her attitude is the baddest thing about her.
It’s hard to not point out the ever-so-subtle coincidence that “Fendi” dropped just three weeks before the launch of Minaj’s capsule collection with Fendi. Shortly after the song’s release, the brand put out a trailer featuring some of the clothes from Minaj’s 127-piece collection, titled Fendi Prints On, a nod to a lyric in “Chun Li.”
Based on what we can see from the trailer, Fendi Prints On will be a fun collection featuring bright and bold pieces, fitting to the rapper’s brand and style. This capsule collection launches online on October 14, and will hit up retail stores just two days after.
Here’s to hoping that Queen Barbz will put out more music after the clothing line launches.
