Noah Cyrus is proving that her debut single “Make Me (Cry)” with UK singer Labrinth wasn’t a one-off hit. The latest member of the Cyrus family to enter the music biz, Miley’s little sister has just dropped another track and is continuing to wow us with her mature vocals and emotional lyrics.
Like “Make Me (Cry)”, “Almost Famous” is another track for the broken hearted, with Cyrus showing off her impressive voice in this acoustic performance. Showing she’s got the write goods to make it in the music biz, Cyrus sings “”We were almost legends you and me / We were almost perfect / We were almost like the people in the painting / It’s like we were almost / It’s like we were almost famous.”
The new song arrives just one month after Cyrus debuted the music video for “Make Me (Cry).” Working with legendary director Sophie Mueller (Gwen Stefani, No Doubt), Cyrus and Labrinth find themselves sharing a wall, as well as similar heartbreak, both dealing with unrequited love in their simple yet moving music video.
The two singers brood and emote their way around their respective apartments, mirroring one another as they perform their new ballad. Cyrus and Labrinth are worthy opponents both on screen and in the recording studio, with the two artists finding a beautiful arrangement that enables their voices to compliment and build upon each other’s.
Cyrus has yet to release any details on her debut album, but we’re hoping that both “Make Me (Cry)” and “Almost Famous” will be in the track listing.
