Summer, you here yet? As festival announcements continue to trickle out, Toronto’s very own North by Northeast (NXNE) has dropped their lineup—featuring some of the year’s most hyped indie and hip hop acts.
Just announced yesterday, the headliners at the June 23-25 Port Lands festival are Passion Pit, Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator and Post Malone.
The lineup will also include Bleachers, Sleigh Bells, The Soul Rebels ft. Talib Kweli, MUNA, Twin Peaks, Cold Specks and Son Little—with over 20 more artists still to be announced.
So far, the only Canadian act is Cold Specks, an acclaimed experimental-soul artist from Toronto who was nominated for the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2013. Although hip-hop crooner Post Malone’s debut album Stoney included “Deja Vu,” which featured Canadian pop favourite Justin Bieber.
This year’s Port Lands program will also feature a comedy tent, carnival rides, midway games, art installations and street food. In addition to the three-day music festival, there’s also Club Land, Game Land, Future Land, which are set to take place at over a dozen Toronto venues, such as Yonge-Dundas Square, Danforth Music Hall, Horseshoe Tavern, Adelaide Hall and more beginning on June 16. More details to come on those events.
