NXNE Announces Curator Series Lineup, Festival Village Headliners Jazz Cartier, Azealia Banks, Big Freedia

North By Northeast (NXNE) has announced the first performers confirmed for its Festival Village happening June 15-17 in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square.

Toronto rapper Jazz Cartier, “212” singer Azealia Banks, and Queen of Bounce Big Freedia are this year’s headliners with more artist announcements still to come. So far, the featival lineup includes U.S. Girls, TORRES, Sean Leon, Alx Veliz, Yungblud, Kamikaze Girls, Nate Husser, and Cadence Weapon.

NXNE’s Festival Village is new this year and will take over Yonge Street with music performances visual art installations, food vendors, brand activations, panels, artist interviews, and comedy shows. Stay tuned for further news on programming.

As previously announced, NXNE is bringing back the Club Land Curators series this summer from June 10-16 with club shows curated by Canadian artists. For its second annual year, the series has expanded with over 30 shows throughout the festival week at venues across the city.

This year’s Club Land Curators series will feature acts from Phedre, Ice Cream, Die Mannequin, Saya, Charlotte Cornfield, Sun K, Myst Milano, The Pick Brothers, La Timpa, Goodbye Honolulu, and more. Check out the full lineup below and venue schedule here.

Notable curators include alt-rock band July Talk’s Leah Fay and Peter Dreimanis, K-os, Dilly Dally frontwoman Katie Monks, rapper Cadence Weapon, Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy, Sum 41’s Cone McCaslin, synth-pop princess Ralph, and others.
