It was a stressful day for Directioners when Us Weekly reported rumours from an inside source that said One Direction had no plans to reconvene after their scheduled hiatus.
The report cited the information to an unnamed source, but now, Billboard is reporting that another unnamed source claims that everything is business as usual: “Nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members’ own mouths,” the source said.
Back in Novemeber, Niall Horan shut down any rumours that the band was breaking up, saying “We’re not breaking up. We’re literally taking time out to see our friends and see our family, and reflect on what we’ve done over the last few years.”
A breakup following the hiatus has been suspected for a while. The hiatus was announced after the exit of resident Bad Boy Zayn Malik, and rumours have been flying about all the boys wanting to branch out into separate directions—indcluding acting, producing and solo careers. And in the case of Louis Tomlinson, fatherhood.
For now, we’ll be taking these updates at face value, but we won’t be holding any funerals for the world’s greatest boy band until we get official confirmation.
