Friday the 13th may be most often associated with bad luck, but for music fans, today is the day we’ve been waiting for to finally hear some of the biggest albums of the year.
Alessia Cara dropped her highly anticipated debut album Know-It-All this morning, along with actress Hailee Steinfeld and her new record Haiz.
Justin Bieber’s fourth studio album Purpose is going head-to-head with One Direction’s Made In The A.M., a match up that has been giving us *NSYNC versus Backstreet Boys, Christina versus Britney, and Monica versus Brandy vibes for months.
Now the day the music lived has arrived, but One Direction have just dropped even more bombshells on fans. Let’s discuss.
First, 1D has announced a competition starting this Saturday, where countries will use designated hashtags to determine where the greatest number of Directioners live. The 10 countries to use their 1D hashtags the most will get their own 1D emojis.
Let the spamming commence!
Next, the band stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform tracks from their brand new fifth studio album as well as a few covers. The foursome took on Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s collaboration FourFiveSeconds.
One Direction went even further back for their second cover, taking on Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn. The last time the now four-piece performed the 1997 hit was in 2010 on The X Factor. Awwwww.
In addition to the covers, Liam, Louis, Harry and Niall also performed their third single Infinity off Made In the AM.
Even with all the amazing musical performances, the Live Lounge event did had one big Eeyore cloud hanging over it. 1D member Liam Payne revealed news that we could probably only handle on new album day. The band’s upcoming one year hiatus starting this March is actually going to be…two years long.
We’ll be over here listening to Made In The A.M. on repeat if anyone needs us.
