Pink Is Back With ‘What About Us’ And New Album Announcement

The Pink drought is finally over. Just announced today, pop star Pink has returned to the charts with her new politically charged track “What About Us.” The song will act as the lead single from Pink’s upcoming seventh studio album Beautiful Trauma, which is set to be released on October 13.

Sharing the album cover for Beautiful Trauma on her Instagram page, Pink says she’s ‘insanely proud’ of the new album, acknowledging her extended absence from the music scene.

The lead single was written by Pink along with Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid and producer Steve Mac. An anthemic pop song with no shortage of emotional and booming rises, Pink puts her famous pipes to work in “What About Us,” her most politically and socially conscious song to date.

The new album has Pink hitting the studio with some of today’s biggest songwriters, including Julia Michaels, Jack Antonoff, Max Martin, Shellback and Greg Kurstin.

Pink’s last major release was with 2014’s Rose Ave., an album written and performed with City and Colour’s Dallas Green for their duo You+Me. Prior to this, Pink’s last solo album was 2012’s The Truth About Love, which included the singles “Blow Me (One Last Kiss),” “Try” and “Just Give Me A Reason” with Nate Ruess.

The pop star has slowly begun her comeback, releasing “Just Like Fire” in 2016 for the Alice Through The Looking Glass soundtrack and “Waterfall” with Sia earlier this year. In July, Pink performed at the Ottawa Blues Festival, where she reunited with Green on stage.
