We’re now less than one month away from the final installment of the beloved Pitch Perfect franchise hitting theatres, and that means it’s time for a Riff-Off.
In a new clip uploaded today, the Barden Bellas have arrived at their USO gig and found that they’re in a war zone they didn’t expect. They’ll be sharing the stage with bands. Who play instruments. And not just with their mouths. Aca-scuse me?
In an effort to cement their dominance over the other groups, the Barden Bellas decide to show the bands how they battle, specifically, what a real riff-off looks like. Stars Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson and more display their incredible vocals and mash-up skills, performing Pink’s “Get The Party Started,” Walk Off The Moon’s “Shut Up And Dance,” R. Kelly’s “Ignition” and Dr. Dre’s “Let Me Ride.” The performance is sealed with an extended note from Wilson, who doesn’t quite earn a new fan in DJ Khaled.
Ruby Rose, who plays the leader of an all-girl rock band, is less than impressed with the Bellas and displays off her own mash-up skills, taking the stage with a country band to perform The Cranberries “Zombie” and Aviici’s “Wake Me Up.” It’s pretty catchy.
Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins are also in the clip, thankfully returning as the non-PC a capella commentators who know just how to say the wrong thing.
It’s a clear win for the bands, but the Bellas are ruling on the technicality that the other groups used instruments. Gotta take the W any way you can.
Last week, the Barden Bellas joined the Top 12 finalists of this season of The Voice (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV) for a mash up of George Michael’s “Freedom” and “Cups (When I’m Gone),” complete with a slick new music video (watch here). Is it December 22 yet?
