Today, Radiohead have shared a new music video for their track “The Numbers,” off their most recent album A Moon Shaped Pool.
Filmed in Tarzana, California, the video has a ’70s jam sesh aesthetic, opening with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood sitting on wooden benches in an open patch of forest land with mountains in the distance. There looks to be a slight breeze that causes both the tree branches and stray hairs poking out of Yorke’s man to sway, while Greenwood sits barefoot next to a Roland CR-78 drum machine. The six-minute video starts with a one minute guitar and drum machine instrumental, and ends with Greenwood turning off the drum machine and looking to Yorke, who mysteriously mutters, “Probably.”
“The Numbers” was shot in August by director Paul Thomas Anderson, who worked with the band on “Daydreaming” and “Present Tense.” Both these videos also feature the band performing with a CR-78 in a similarly picturesque setting.
Radiohead also recently released a special vinyl edition of A Moon Shaped Pool, featuring two extra tracks and 32 pages of Stanley Donwood artwork.
