Rihanna Is Literally Out Of This World In ‘Sledgehammer’ Video

If you’ve ever wondered whether Rihanna would still be gorgeous as an alien, the answer is YES. The singer got into character for her “Sledgehammer” music video, a new track featured in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond film.

In the new video, Rihanna plays an extraterrestrial living alone in a galaxy far, far away. Sorry, wrong franchise. She’s somewhere in outer space.

Rihanna wears a flowing red jumpsuit along with tribal face tattoos that accentuate her striking no-eyebrow look. Commanding as always in her stage presence, she keeps her eyes locked on the camera as she moves with the wind on her desolate planet.

Not only is the new song part of the Star Trek Beyond soundtrack, but “Sledgehammer” is now also a part of history. This morning’s screening of “Sledgehammer” in theatres makes Rihanna the first artist to ever premiere a music video on IMAX screens. Somewhere, Kanye is super annoyed.

Part of the song was first heard this past Monday, when the third trailer for Star Trek Beyond was released with “Sledgehammer” playing in the background. The melancholic, piano-driven single, which has the superstar singing, “I hit a wall, I thought that I would hurt myself / Oh I was sure, your words would leave me unconscious,” was penned by Sia, who also wrote Rihanna’s hit, “Diamonds.” Rihanna first tweeted about “Sledgehammer” back in May 2014, saying, “You’re just another brick and I’m a sledgehammer #barz.”
