Rita Ora made headlines yesterday after telling The Sun that she’s always wanted to recreate the iconic 2001 rendition of Lady Marmalade
“It’s always been my goal to create another Lady Marmalade,” she said.”I’m trying to round up the troops – I think it would be me, Miley [Cyrus], Charli XCX – she’d be fun – and Iggy [Azalea].”
Fortunately for us, the idea has already been shut down by Iggy.
Please leave me out of the whole Lady Marmalade conversation. I have nothing to do with ritas ideas & agree it should be left alone. Thanks

Originally recorded by all-girl group Labelle in 1974, the later (more popular and ultimately sacred) version of Lady Marmalade featured Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya and Lil Kim. In addition to teaching us a naughty phrase en francais (we still cite “Voulez vous coucher avec moi, ce soir” as the only French we know despite years of government-required studies), it stands as one of the most important music collaborations of all time.
While a remake of a remake seems excessive, there have been some reiterations of the all-girl pop superstars ensemble. Check out our favourites below.
1. Till The World Ends (Remix) – Britney Spears, Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj
Despite being a under-the-radar remix, this Brtiney/Kesha/Nicki joint is a banger. We need a radio single from this trio!
2. Give Me All Your Luvin’ – Madonna, M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj
On this track, the “L! U! V! Madonna!” chants are the equivalent of Lady Marmalade’s “Hey sista, go sista…” intro. The fact that M.I.A. was sued for $16.6 million dollars after flipping off the camera during the Super Bowl half-time show just adds to how badass this song is.
3. Bang Bang – Jessie J, Ariana Grande and (who else) Nicki Minaj
Arguably one of the biggest songs 2014, Bang Bang is the closest thing to a Lady Marmalade remake as we’d like to get. Insane vocals? Check. Female empowerment lyrics? Check. Presence of Nicki Minaj? Check. Let’s be real, there’s no way they’re redoing Lady Marmalade without Nicki.
