Actor Camila Mendes is quickly becoming the go-to star for music videos. The Riverdale star first appeared in college friend Maggie Rogers’ video for “Give A Little” earlier this month, bringing out her inner skater girl and showing off her dancing skills. Now Mendes is once again proving that Veronica Lodge can let loose, performing in The Chainsmokers video for “Side Effects.”
In “Side Effects,” which also features singer and frequent Chainsmokers collaborator Emily Warren, Mendes plays a bored hotel worker named Riley. After being told she has to work the weekend shift, Riley rips off her hotel uniform to reveal a silk pink top and floral skirt. Rather than clean the hotel, Riley rebels by dancing throughout the building, making her way down the balloon covered hallways and out to the pool deck.
As for The Chainsmokers, made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, they appear briefly in the video in one of the hotel rooms, as does singer Emily Warren.
Shot in Mendes’ hometown of Miami, the actors’ carefree dancing is the perfect visual to go with The Chainsmokers new upbeat pop single, which is the fifth single from duo’s upcoming second studio album Sick Boy. “Side Effects” follows The Chainsmokers previous 2018 releases, including “You Owe Me,” “Everybody Hates Me,” “Somebody,” “In My Head,” and “Sick Boy.”
