Ryan Hemsworth Discovered How To Get On His Parent’s Level

Ryan Hemsworth has come a long way since starting out creating music in Halifax. No shots to Halifax. We love Halifax. Like, seriously, LOVE IT. But, the electrtonic musician and producer has now become a huge breakout Juno winning star. His second LP Alone For The First Time came out last month and has become a party playlist staple.

When he came through Much a couple weeks ago, Liz wanted to know what it was like going home to HFX in October for his main homecoming show during Halifax Pop Explosion.

“It was crazy to go back this time because I was on the cover of The Coast there and did a bunch of interviews for all the breakfast television shows that my parents watch,” he said. “They were calling me in between every interview. They were like, ‘Oh great job. We were watching!'”

A turning point for his parents understanding of his whirlwind success was winning the JUNO for Electronic Album of the Year in 2014. Now his lucky ‘rents get to keep the statue safe. “It’s now sitting in their front entrance on a table as soon as you walk through the door. They finally understand what I’m doing,” Ryan said.
