Calling all members of the Mendes Army: Shawn Mendes has announced a huge international self-titled tour, with four stops in Canada, including Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.
After a busy night at the Met Gala on Monday, (where he cozied up to his now-official girlfriend Hailey Baldwin), Mendes announced via social media the full set of dates for his massive self-titled arena tour. Kicking off in Amsterdam on March 3, 2019, he’ll hit 17 European countries before trekking through North America and ending in New York on August 24, 2019.
That’s a total of 56 countries spanning across two continents, so it’s safe to assume the young singer is in for a busy year.
The tour will be in support of his upcoming self-titled third studio album, following last year’s Illuminate and 2015’s Handwritten. The record is slated to drop May 25.
Mendes has already released three singles that will appear on the record so far. “In My Blood” was inspired by a more vulnerable side of the singer’s emotional struggles. “Lost in Japan” was a feel-good love track about wanting to travel across the world to be with one special love interest.
Mendes’s latest release, “Youth,” was inspired by the 2017 Manchester attack at an Ariana Grande concert. The track featured Khalid, and the two are heard angelically harmonizing about holding onto their youthful spirits after a horrific event.
With so many amazing releases so far, and a confirmed collaboration with Julia Michaels, Shawn Mendes is definitely one of the most anticipated albums of 2018.
If you can’t wait a whole 12 months to watch this pop phenom perform live, tickets are still available for the dates that Mendes has lined up for this summer, including a stop at Festival d’été in Quebec. Be sure to head over to Mendes’ website to see the full list of dates for #ShawnMendesTheTour, and get ready for ticket pre-sales to start this weekend.
