In case you haven’t heard yet, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, also known as the cutest friendship duo, are back and they are THRIVING.
The two young artists released a spicy new collab called “Señorita,” reminiscent of Cabello’s 2017 hit, “Havana.” The video shows the two fooling around and clearly into each other, but not able to pursue a relationship for whatever reason. And no matter how convincing they may seem in the video and in the song lyrics, we know they’re just friends. So we’ve decided to take a trip down memory lane and check out all their cute friendship moments.
Mendes and Cabello first met when they opened for Austin Mahone’s tour in 2014. Although not too much seemed to go down, it was clear that their friendship was only beginning, which can be seen in this video with Camila telling Shawn she would miss him. Not for long though.
The pair start tweeting each other and joking around, having reconnected backstage at a Taylor Swift concert. And at the time, they might have even teased what would be their first collab…
Mendes and Cabello released their collab “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and fans went crazy. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Cabello even mentioned that she was lucky they wrote the song together because “I also got a really good friendship out of that.” Basically, the song is a bop and their friendship was solidified.
“Miss Movin’ On” Cabello officially announced her departure from Fifth Harmony and Shawn only wanted to support her, as can be seen in his tweet. How sweet is that?
“Pursue what makes your heart pound, happiness is our responsibility” beautifully said. https://t.co/uhAHCcJZMF

The support continued from Mendes as Camila released her debut solo single “Crying in the Club.” Their Twitter interaction proved just how pure their friendship truly is and it’s hitting us in the feels.
.@ShawnMendes i love u SO much and i miss u even more than I love u thank u for being such an amazing friend 💞💞💞👫

The next month in an interview with KISS FM UK, Cabello said that she feels like they’re gonna be best friends forever and that “he’s one of the closest friends” she has in the industry. Can you talk about goals?
Mendes tweeted a link to Cabello’s “Havana” performance on Fallon which lead to a cute exchange between the pair of singers.
i just texted u saying this but u are the kindest most supportive friend ever!!! love u 4ever Canada 🇨🇦 https://t.co/FDPtHdtjGz

Basically for all of 2018, Mendes and Cabello stanned each other so hard and if that’s not true friendship, we don’t know what is.
It started with Mendes tweeting about Cabello’s debut album.
love ya Canada https://t.co/gtDDiEKQyB

Moved onto Mendes talking about Cabello in an interview with the latter supposedly crying about it.

Continued with Cabello wishing Mendes a very happy birthday over Twitter.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY @ShawnMendes !!!!!!! I LOVE U FOREVER 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
— camila (@Camila_Cabello) August 8, 2018
And ended with Cabello stating in an interview that although they were nominated in the same category for the Grammys (which is a huge deal), “if he wins, it’s like I win.” Ending the year with a bang, we like that.

Most recently, Mendes Instagrammed a photo of him and Cabello with a caption saying how proud he was of them. We seriously can’t with him.

It seems like over the years, they’ve figured out the balance of gushing about each other—Cabello in interviews and Mendes over Twitter. In an industry that can be fake, with friendships that are brief, Mendes and Cabello have clearly proven that true friendships exist and are long lasting. All we can do now is support them and hope that they provide us with more bops. Let’s all start by watching the video for “Señorita” on repeat.
