Grab your favourite pair of blue jeans—Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget might be getting back together.
On Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show, Alexis Bledel told Jimmy Fallon a third instalment of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has been discussed.
“We just pitched a third movie,” she told the late-night host. “I hope it comes together. It would be so great.” This resulted in a round of applause from the audience with Fallon telling the Gilmore Girls actress that she has to get the movie made.
Based on the novels by Ann Brashares, the first Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was released in 2005 and follows the adventures of four best friends who share a seemingly magical pair of jeans that fits each of them. In addition to Bledel, the films starred Blake Lively, America Ferrera, and Amber Tamblyn who would all go on to reprise their roles as Lena, Bridget, Carmen, and Tibby, respectively, in the 2008 sequel.
The Handmaid’s Tale star told Fallon she still occasionally gets together with her then cast mates and now real life BFFs.
“We don’t get to see each other a lot because everybody [has] work and family and everything,” said 36-year-old Bledel. “But when everybody’s in town, we do.”
Ferrera previously told E! Online she is in for a third Sisterhood movie saying, “I think it would be amazing. The sisterhood is still well and alive. I love my girls. We’re very much a part of each other’s lives and if the movie happens it would be a great thing.” Lively also stirred the Sisterhood plot last June when she suggested a “strong chance” of a third movie during a radio interview with Entertainment Weekly.
After years of rumours, Bledel confirming that the film has been pitched makes the possibility of a third Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie closer to becoming a reality.
