We’ve been anxiously rooting for Justin Bieber’s comeback for a long time. We were disappointed when he released an album with Cody Simpson, hopeful when he began his Apology Tour on Ellen’s show, and optimistic when we checked in on him 20 days after his re-entry into the spotlight.
Now Bieber has teamed up with Skrillex and Diplo to provide vocals on their track Where Are Ü Now and we have to admit – as soon as we hit play we felt like a nervous parent watching their kid perform the solo in the elementary school play. After a few mental repetitions of PleaseBeGoodPleaseBeGoodPleaseBeGood we’re happy to say Where Are Ü Now isn’t just good, it’s great. LE FREAKING SIGH.
Justin’s longtime manager Scooter Braun posted about the song on his Instagram, saying “@skrillex @diplo and @justinbieber – #jacku #whereareUnow . Justin wrote this song in the studio one night just vibin out…I ran into wes aka Diplo at a club and told him I had this great song and vocal by JB and we were figuring out what to use it for. He said can we hear it for jack u. The rest is history. Enjoy. #music.”
Our prayers have been answered. Justin Bieber is finally back to save pop music.
The new song is part of a 10-track surprise album Skrillex and Diplo dropped last night. Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü also includes vocals from Kiesza, another Canadian we can’t get enough of. The Calgary native sings on two of the albums tracks, including a Missy Elliott remix of Take Ü There. If this doesn’t get you ready for Friday then you’re not doing Friday right.
