You’re Going To Love The Soundtrack For ‘Love, Simon’

Love, Simon

Every few years, a film soundtrack drops that makes us fall in love with a movie before we’ve even see it. The YA genre has a long history of impressive musical groupings that create an audio experience that make the fall in love with the characters on an even deeper level and keeps fans reliving the film long after the credits have rolled.

We’ve seen it with 1990s movies like Romeo + Juliet, Empire Records, Can’t Hardly Wait, and Clueless and into the 2000s with Save The Last Dance, Juno, The Twilight Series, The Hunger Games, and The Fault In Our Stars.

Now it looks as though the upcoming film adaptation of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, retitled to Love, Simon, is going to have a soundtrack that will cement the film as a quintessential coming-of-age story.

Bleachers’ frontman and music producer Jack Antonoff has signed on as the executive producer of the Love, Simon soundtrack and has put together a collection of artists that will have fans lining up for both film tickets and physical albums. Including a handful of Bleachers songs, as well as a collaboration between Antonoff and MØ, the upcoming soundtrack for Love, Simon includes original songs from Khalid and Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei, The 1975, and Amy Shark. According to Antonoff’s Instagram post, the new soundtrack will feature writing by Julia Michaels, Justin Tratner, Harry Styles and Isley Juber.

One of the most exciting inclusions is this weekend’s SNL musical guest Troye Sivan, who is the perfect fit for the soundtrack. Sivan broke into the music scene with his stunning Blue Neighborhood trilogy, with the videos depicting two teenage boys in love and pulled apart by their families. In the upcoming film Love, Simon, actor Nick Robinson plays a high school student who has yet to come out to his friends and family.

Also included in the Love, Simon soundtrack are a few classic tracks, including Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” Brenton Wood’s “The Oogum Boogum Song,” and “Someday At Christmas” by The Jackson 5.
