T-Pain, the musician widely known for popularizing auto-tune, is going on an acoustic tour. He announced the news earlier this week, writing, “I wanted to do something different for you guys…performing some of my favorite songs in a way you’ve never seen or heard” on Instagram.
This new tour acts as a comeback for T-Pain, who’s been on the scene since the early 2000s when he was dropping hit tracks like “Buy U A Drank,” “Bartender” and several features including”Good Life” with Kanye West. Revolver, his most recent studio album, dropped in 2011. The intimate six-city tour kicks off in October, with tickets on sale this Friday.
Though the idea of an acoustic tour might seem odd for the “I’m ‘n Luv (Wit a Stripper)” rapper, this won’t be the first time he’s stripped down his club anthems.
Back in 2014, he stopped by NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert to perform soulful, slowed-down renditions of some of his biggest hits. Get a sneak peek of what the new tour will sound like in the video below.
