It’s been a long time coming, but after all the “Bad Blood” and “Swish Swish” bish-ness, it appears that one of music’s longest running and most notorious feuds is finally over. It’s not the battle of East versus West coast rap, but the pop music equivalent. Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have finally made peace.
In 2018, anything is possible.
What started as a war over back-up dancers and culminated with two hugely popular songs written in response (hey, at least they made money off hurt feelings) has now finally ended. After years of side eyes at award shows and friends being forced to pick sides, Katy Perry has literally extended an olive branch to Taylor Swift. Maybe her recent visit with the Pope inspired her to forgive.
While preparing for the opening night of her Reputation Tour in Glendale, Arizona on Tuesday night, Swift shared a number of behind-the-scenes videos on her Instagram stories, including driving to the venue, watching sound check, and getting some very friendly mail from Perry.
Sending Swift an actual olive branch, Perry included a note that can only be partially made out in the video. “Hey Old Friend, I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and the feelings between us. I really want to clear the air…” writes Perry.
The letter is complete with a sticker of Perry’s dog, which Swift, an animal lover, undoubtedly noticed. Swift is heard in the video excitedly showing off the package, saying “So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch. This means so much to me.”

This reconciliation has been a long time coming, with Perry talking about the feud in 2017 with James Corden on an episode of Carpool Karaoke.
“What I want to say is that I’m ready for that BS to be done. Now, there is the law of cause and effect,” said Perry. “You do something, there’s going to be a reaction, and trust me daddy, there’s going to be a reaction. It’s all about karma, right? I think personally that women together, not divided, and none of this petty bullshit, women together will heal the world.”
It’s been a tough year so far, but don’t we all feel a bit better now that two of music’s most important artists have been shining examples of how to forgive and forget? It gives hope to the rest of us. And you never know. There could be a huge collaboration in the future. It doesn’t look like Kanye West and Jay Z are doing another Watch The Throne album in the future, so maybe Swift and Perry will pick up the mics together.
