The alt-rock group’s music combines the dark and youthful themes of sex, love and fear with ethereal alternative tracks that seem to never expire. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2013 and became an instant No. 1 album in the U.K., but also earned the band attention in the United States, where it peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200.

The 1975’s sophomore album shifted gears to a more R&B-influenced, contemporary-pop sound, but still remained true to their alternative vibe. The album came in at No. 1 in both the U.K. and the U.S., landing the band two Brit Award nominations, an awards show they’ll also perform at next month.
