The Best Celebrity Beefs Of 2015

Where there’s celebrities, there will be beefs. 2015 had its fair share of clashes. We loved screencapping shade-filed tweets, making gifs and memes of these unfriendly celebrity interactions. Here are the best celebrity feuds of 2015. Get your popcorn and tea ready.

Nicki Minaj vs. Taylor Swift
This could be titled “The Beef That Almost Was”, because really, this was just a big misunderstanding. Taylor felt Nicki was calling her out when Nicki threw shade at the VMAs for not nominating Anaconda for video of the year.

While Nicki was focusing on the underlying racism in the music industry, Taylor interpreted the tweet as a direct attack on Bad Blood.

Once the dust settled, Taylor apologized realizing she was wrong and both women came out on the night of the VMAs to perform together. All was well.

Drake vs. Meek Mill
It all started when Meek Mill’s trigger fingers turned to Twitter fingers—the Philadelphia rapper called out Drake for using ghost writers: “He don’t write his own raps!” In response, The Boy released Charged Up, a chill diss track that acted as a warning for what was coming next: “Six God is watching, I just hope you’re prepared to face him,” he rapped. After radio silence from Meek, three days later Drake dropped the devastating freestyle, Back To Back and delivered some catastrophic bars including “Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?”

Katy Perry vs. Taylor Swift
Have you ever been in a beef that was so sinister that you had to record a hit single about it? That’s what Bad Blood singer, Taylor Swift did when it came to her beef with Katy Perry. To add insult to injury, TayTay rounded up her giant girl gang of celebrity friends, dressed them in sexy leather, gave them deadly weapons and made one of the best music videos of the year.

Taylor Swift vs. Apple Music
Taylor Swift, a known hater of steaming services wrote an open letter to Apple Music on why she wouldn’t be streaming her hit album 1989 on the new service. During the free three-month trial Apple Music was offering users, they weren’t planning on paying artists royalty fees. ” I find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company,” she wrote, “We don’t ask you for free iPhones. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation.” Miraculously, Apple executive Eddy Cue responded to her tweet, notifying her that Apple would be reforming this policy. Point Taylor Swift.

Zayn Malik vs. Calvin Harris
After former 1D member Zayn retweeted an account that threw shade at Taylor Swift’s stand against Apple, loyal boyfriend Calvin Harris swooped in to defend his lady. Things got messy from here, and ended with Zayn callin Calvin a “dickhead”. Yikes. Check out the exchange below.

Miley Cyrus vs. Nicki Minaj
Miley vs. Nicki was easily the most iconic beef of the year. Nothing else that happened at the VMAs mattered as much as the altercation between these two celebs.

Everyone had their own opinions on the VMAs scuffle between Taylor and Nicki, including Miley Cyrus. A few days before the VMAs, Miley told the New York Times that she didn’t think Nicki handled the beef well:

What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about

When Nicki accepted her award for Best Hip-Hop Video on the night of the awards show, throwing it back to Miley after her speech she said, “And now, back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press: Miley, What’s good?” Within seconds, #MileyWhatsGood was trending on Twitter. Those three words will go down in VMA history.
