The Cast Of ‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Talk About The Training Behind The Action

Wed, September, 9 by

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is the highly anticipated upcoming sequel to last year’s hit, The Maze Runner. When it came time to prepare for the role all over again, cast members Dexter Darden, Ki Hong Lee and Thomas Brodie-Sangster admittedly went through the “no pain, no gain” approach to training for the big action scenes.

“We had two weeks of training with our stunt team,” Darden reveals to our very own Liz Trinnear. “They trained us to physically be able to deal with the beast that is Albuquerque, New Mexico, and so when you see those shots of us running up those sand dunes, that’s actually us. That’s not CGI.”

Director Wes Ball wanted his actors to be authentic and making them run and train for those intense scenes really did the trick. “Wes Ball really wanted us to be able to be engulfed in what we were doing and really go through the pain,” Darden continues. “And so we went through that pain.”
