Ancaster, Ontario native POESY was the breakout star on last night’s episode of The Launch. It all started with the 22-year-old alternative indie artist performing “Creep” by Radiohead for her audition.
Mentors Fergie, Stephan Moccio, and Scott Borchetta were wowed by the hauntingly beautiful performance, comparing POESY’s sound to Florence + the Machine. It came as no surprise when POESY was given the opportunity to record her own version of the new original song “Soldier of Love.”
After an intense 48 hours in studio rehearsals, recordings, and working closely with mentors, POESY performed an emotional rendition of “Soldier of Love” in front of a live studio audience.
The mentors were floored by the performance and after some deliberation POESY’s powerful version of “Soldier of Love” was chosen to launch.
“Soldier of Love” is quickly climbing to the top of the charts following the footsteps of the series chosen songs to date—Logan Staats’ “The Lucky Ones,” Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine’s “Ain’t Easy,” (which was co-written by Camila Cabello) and The Static Shift‘s “Wide Awake”.
Watch next week’s new episode of The Launch on CTV and CTV GO Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, with singer songwriter Julia Michaels and music producer Ian Kirkpatrick joining Scott Borchetta as mentors.
