The Tonight Show’s 10 Best Musical Moments of 2015

It’s been another year packed full of personal interviews, hilarious sketches, and games with celebrities that have fans tuning in five days a week to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The late night host is always up for trying something new and that includes musical numbers that have us talking for months. It was a difficult task, but we managed to narrow down the Tonight Show’s Best Musical Moments of 2015 to the top 10.

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday to Friday at 11:30E on CTV Two and catch repeats weekdays at 4E/1P on Much.

10. Pentaonix Sing The Tonight Show Open

It’s pretty difficult to get much cooler than The Roots playing your opening theme every night, but Pentatonix singing the theme song is a close second.

9. Cara Delevigne Beat Boxes

Model. Actress. Beat Boxer. If this was Shark Tank, we’d be trying to buy shares in the mega-talented Cara Delevigne.

8. Rashida Jones And Jimmy Fallon Put A Holiday Spin On Taylor Swift, The Weeknd And Drake

Fallon and Jones teamed up in November for in their annual tradition of taking songs, including this year’s picks Can’t Feel My Face and Bad Blood, and turning them into instant holiday classics. How about Bitch Better Have My Stuffing, Watch Me Whip (The Mashed Potatoes) , Butter Ball Hotline Bling, and I Can’t Celebrate Cause I’m A Jew.

The duo were joined by two very famous voices for their holiday tradition with a performance that almost has us excited to watch the sun go down at 3 p.m. every day. Almost.

7. Troye Sivan Performs Sorry/Hands To Myself

Aussie singer Troye Sivan appeared on The Tonight Show earlier this month and while backstage he recorded a mash up on Justin Bieber’s Sorry and Selena Gomez’s recently released single, Hands To Myself. The two tracks together make for a beautiful arrangement from Sivan, who is giving us the greatest soundtrack we could ask for when holding our monthly Jelena Prayer Circle.

6. The Ragtime Gals Sing Bitch Better Have My Money

If you’ve been trying to figure out how to listen to Rihanna while your grandparents are in the room, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and The Ragtime Gals figured it out in September.

5. Jack Black And Jimmy Fallon Recreate Extreme’s More Than Words

What happens when two professional musician/comedians get together to jam? They put on wigs, turn their camera filters to black and white, and sing their hearts out to Extreme.

Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon brought us back to the 90s in May with their beautiful and hilarious rendition of Extreme’s hit song More Than Words. Minus a few band members, the twosome stayed true to the original video, donning flowing wigs and looking passionately into the camera.

4. Tom Cruise Sings I Can’t Feel My Face

When you think of what kind of music Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise listens to, you may not necessarily gravitate towards an act like The Weeknd. But the action star surprised everyone on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in July when he began his Lip Sync Battle against Fallon with the Toronto singer’s summer hit, I Can’t Feel My Face. And you know what? He absolutely killed it!

Cruise was a lip sync pro as he continued with the Righteous Brothers’ You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling and then ended it with a duet with Fallon. We think we’ve found a new lip sync champ.

3. Tonight Show Classroom Instruments Returns With Adele’s Hello

There are so many games, skits, challenges, and musical montages on The Tonight Show that can be difficult to notice when one of the show’s trademark bits hasn’t been around for a while. But we did notice that Classroom Instruments have been MIA. We love Classroom Instruments!

The simple musical spectacular that has given us Let It Go (Idina Menzel), Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen), Holiday (Madonna), Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (One Direction), All I Want For Christmas (Mariah Carey) and many more. So who better to bring back the bare bones performance than Adele? We’re being literal with that question. Who? No one, that’s who.

While appearing on The Tonight Show in November, Adele mentioned that she would have liked to do the Lip Sync Battle, but instead played Box of Lies. As a compromise, Fallon asked Adele to sing live with The Roots and a room full of classroom instruments. We don’t want to hear Adele lip sync anyways. If we had her voice, we would never stop singing. It would be annoying, but beautiful, so no one could complain.

2. Alanis Morissette, Meghan Trainor And Jimmy Fallon Cluck Their Way Through Ironic

Forr centuries, people have been trying to find the answer to the question, “why did the chicken cross the road?” Thankfully, we now know. The chicken was late for band practice.

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Alanis Morissette’s groundbreaking album Jagged Little Pill, Jimmy Fallon put together supergroup The Jagged Little Chicks.

Made up of Fallon, Morissette, Meghan Trainor, and another dude, The Jagged Little Chicks made their television debut this week on The Tonight Show.

Clucking their way through Morissette’s 1995 hit Ironic, The Jagged Little Chicks pecked at our hearts put a strut in our step.

We don’t know how the group came to be and frankly we don’t care. Some things are just too amazing to question.

1. The Star Wars Cast Deliver An Incredible A Capella Tribute To The Famous Theme Song

Along with house band The Roots, Fallon and the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford all bum bum bum buuuuuuuuum’d their way through the famous theme. We were pumped for Star Wars before, but now we’re *really* pumped.
