The Top 10 Covers of Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ (So Far)

Thu, January, 29 by

We’re one full month into 2015 and it looks like Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk is still topping the charts and invading every part of our lives, from movie trailers to malls. Luckily, we’re absolutely crazy about this song and clearly, we’re not the only ones. Tons of covers have surfaced online and almost every one is great, so we dug through the internet to give you the top 10 covers you need to hear right now. So hit pause on the actual song (you can go back to it afterwards, we promise) and take a look at these mind-blowing renditions!

10. Fifth Harmony funks it up
Uptown Funk is such a dude-jam that it’s refreshing (and almost needed) to have five amazing women put their spin on this hit.

9. Uptown Acapella
Because we’re always suckers for Glee-style acapella covers.

8. Up Down Dunk
This food parody combines our two favourite things on Earth: this song and donuts.

7. Miranda Sings gets weird and funky
Internet personality Miranda Sings is a bit of a weirdo, but int he best ways possible. Her rendition of Uptown Funk is complete with red glitter pants and flashing wands so basically, exactly how we perform the song at home in our rooms.

6. More Drums
This cover by BYOS answers the question we’ve all been wondering: Can you ever have too many drums? The answer, of course, is no. In fact, we want MORE DRUMS.

5. Black Simon and Garfunkel get serious
Most of the time, Black Simon and Garfunkel’s covers are almost unrecognizable, but that creativity is why we can’t get enough of them. Their cover of Uptown Funk was the biggest transformation we’ve seen yet, an instant Starbucks classic.

4. Barack Obama is stylin’
Obama dubs are always amazing to watch because the thought that a human being sat down and edited all those clips together is the very reason why we love the internet. But also, we can totally imagine the President seriously throwing down to this song.

3. The world’s coolest high school
Okay, so this isn’t exactly a cover, but this viral video by A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School is the closest we’ll ever get to seeing a real-life High School Musical and it is uh-mazing. We’ve never had a teacher this cool.

2. Fall Out Boy adds some rock to the funk
We enjoy this version of the song because it dares to be different and even though the song is a glossy funk number, Fall Out Boy can’t help but rock the f–k out and we love every minute of this cover.

1. Bruno Mars duets with Kai on Ellen
Even the most technically proficient musicians can’t beat Bruno Mars’ youngest fan Kai. The 6-year-old, who appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2013 and performed Bruno Mars’ hit When I Was Your Man, got to meet and sing Uptown Funk with him and we think Kai has a bright future in music. Just hear him as he shouts “Woo!”, this boy is a star!
