He’s performed on SNL, the MTV EMAs and the AMAs. He’s dropped two dark and dramatic music videos. He’s released four new songs online. He’s written and starred in his first short film, MANIA. Now after months of promotion, The Weeknd’s third studio album Starboy has finally arrived.
To celebrate the new disc, the Toronto native, real name Abel Tesfaye, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night to perform a mash-up of his Daft Punk-produced tracks “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming.”
Starting the performance behind sheets of brightly coloured cellophane, The Weeknd opened with the sweet and poppy “I Feel It Coming” before emerging from the set and getting the crowd on their feet for his ominous and exhilarating “Starboy.”
In addition to this week’s performance on The Tonight Show, The Weeknd’s celebration of Starboy continues with pop up shops in Toronto, Tokyo, Berlin and Melbourne, as well as what will surely be a show-stopping performance during today’s inaugural iHeartRadio Canada Jingle Ball in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre. Tickets are still available for tonight’s iHeartRadio Canada Jingle Ball, featuring performances from The Weeknd, Niall Horan, Alessia Cara, The Chainsmokers, Hedley and more here.
