The Weeknd Shares Behind-The-Scenes Look At ‘My Dear Melancholy’ In New Video

The Weeknd has shared a new video in support of his recently released album My Dear Melancholy.

But the new offering is more than just a music video. The six-minute film, titled “He Was Never There,” plays out like a mini-documentary giving fans a behind-the-scenes look into Abel Tesfaye’s life in the studio.

The new film takes its title from The Weeknd’s song “I Was Never There,” featuring French producer Gesaffelstein. The video has The Weeknd and his collaborators narrate different parts of the clip, detailing how the MDM project came together.

This is the third video from My Dear Melancholy. Along with the album drop, The Weeknd premiered visuals for “Try Me” and “Call Out My Name” on Spotify.

The Weeknd released My Dear Melancholy late last week as the follow-up to his Grammy-winning Starboy. MDM sees The Weeknd take a step back to the darker musical roots that first started his career with tracks that focus on his classic hazy aesthetic and sweeping vocals.

The Weeknd is expected to play his new music during his set at Coachella, which will be live-streamed later this month.
