Comedian Tiffany Haddish always has a funny celebrity story to tell, and when it comes to Drake, it seems like this time is no different. Hot off her MTV Movie & TV Awards hosting gig, the Girls Trip star recently sat down with Jada Pinkett Smith to talk about her rise to stardom on the latest episode of Pinkett Smith’s Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk.
The two discussed everything from working together on Girls Trip to Haddish’s dating life, which prompted a recollection involving
Toronto’s October’s Very Own, Drake.
According to Haddish, the pair exchanged numbers during their recent collaboration on the “Nice For What” music video, where Haddish made a memorable cameo. After texting back and forth, Drake eventually asked Haddish on a date.
“He was like, ‘Let me take you to dinner,'” Haddish revealed. “I was like, ‘That sounds good’ and he was like, ‘OK, cool, cool we’ll make it work,’ right? So, I block all this time off. Like, shoot, I’m gonna get my mustache waxed, you know what I’m saying? Get my armpits waxed, got me a nice little dress.”
But, when it came around to it, Drake wasn’t even in town. Don’t get too heated, though—He had a legitimate excuse.
“[He was] like, ‘Oh man, my bad, family emergency, I’m in Canada right now,’” said Haddish.
Though she understood and played it off with an “okay,” every girl knows how it feels to be cancelled on after purchasing a new outfit and shaving for the occasion.
“I could have made $100,000 today,” Haddish jokes to Pinkett Smith. “But I was trying to see what that D do. But alright.”
