As if he didn’t break our hearts enough in his Academy Award-worthy performance in Call Me By Your Name, Timothée Chalamet stars in yet another drama. In Beautiful Boy, Chalamet finds himself alongside Steve Carell, and the first trailer is finally here.
Based on David Sheff’s memoir, Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction, and Nic Sheff’s Tweak, both of which circle around the father-son relationship during Nic’s battle with methamphetamine, we get a look at the tribulations of the Sheff family throughout Nic’s relapse and recovery period.
In the trailer, David Sheff (Carell), is a determined and desperate father trying to connect with his son again after his addiction begins. Glimpses of Nic (Chalamet) throughout his childhood and adulthood years are shown during moments of him surfing, going on his first flight alone, and rocking out in the car with his father sitting beside him, smiling warmly. The scenes are contrasted with Nic running away from home and struggling to get back on his feet.
If the two-minute trailer can make us shed a tear or two with their moving performances, we can’t imagine what the actual movie will do to us. You can see the co-stars looking like a true father-son duo in Chalamet’s latest Instagram post.
The film is set to make its way into theatres on October 12 during the midst of film festival season, and also stars Golden Globe Winner, Maura Tierney and Academy Award Nominee, Amy Ryan.
If you can’t get enough of Timmy, you can also catch him on the big screen on July 27 with his film, Hot Summer Nights, a neon, intense coming-of-age drama set on the quaint island of Cape Cod.
