New York born and raised musician Tor Miller knows the benefits of going offline. After moving out of NYC and relocating to a remote farm, Miller, who had been professionally trained in piano and singing since a young age, found himself writing songs out of boredom.
“I find that you don’t give yourself any opportunity to be really bored and just vacant for a second,” explained Miller when we caught up with him during a recent visit to the Much studios. “It’s almost like people are scared to be alone with themselves and their thoughts.”
Revealing that his current tour goal is to leave his phone at home, Miller goes on to quote fellow New York singer Patti Smith, who said that boredom brings out her peak creative moments.
