Tori Kelly might have just majorly broken out in the music industry, but her passion for music has always existed.
“I always loved to sing. I don’t remember doing much else, to be hounest,” she says in a video for American Express UNSTAGED.
The 23-year-old talks about finding her voice in for the American Express campaign. She began writing music at the age of 12 and picked up the guitar at 15. She was signed when she was 12 and was in and out of studios without a definitive sound or style of music.
“It’s so hard when you’re that young to even know who you are as a person, let alone as an artist,” she says.
“No one was getting my vision,” she says. “YouTube came kind of at the perfect time.”
It was online that she found her success uploading popular covers. Now, she’s a Grammy-nominated artist with three Billboard-charting hits to her name, including Nobody Love.
