We can’t exactly what we want to say because there are preschool toys present, but we are really, really excited that a new Toy Story is on the horizon. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 4 dropped Monday morning, and we’re ready to reach for the sky and go to infinity and beyond. We’re also adults and we’re excited and no, we’re not mocking anyone.
The new trailer for Toy Story 4 brings the whole gang back together, including Woody, Buzz, Rex, Slinky Dog, Aliens, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and Jessie. The group is enjoying a dance party in the sun as a very happy version of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” plays. A far cry from Love Actually.
But things aren’t all great in toy world. Like the ominous sign of a kid gifting someone with bed sheets at a birthday party, we’re starting to panic. There’s a new toy in town and he’s not even a toy…he’s a plastic utensil. Are you forking kidding us! Who’s the new guy?
Disney announced its logline for the film along with the trailer on Monday, saying “Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”
Arrested Development and Veep actor Tony Hale will star as Forky, the non-toy toy who arrives in Bonnie’s room as a craft project, unable to come to terms with his new identity as a non-disposable item. Tom Hanks will reprise his role as Woody and Toy Story 4 will hit theatres on June 21, 2019. Consider our tickets bought.
