The New England Patriots won (again), Maroon 5 made their halftime show debut, and millions of chicken wings were consumed, but the real star of Sunday night was the new trailer for Toy Story 4. It’s been nine years since the last Toy Story and honestly, we never thought we’d see the return of Buzz and Woody, so yeah, we’re gonna celebrate.
Sunday night’s trailer, which premiered during the Super Bowl, featured two big reveals for the upcoming final instalment of the Pixar franchise. One, Bo Peep is back and is looking chic and badass, obviously coming into her own. Two, Buzz Lightyear is in big trouble.
The new trailer opens with Woody and Bo Peep enjoying a day at the carnival while they wait for Buzz to join them. Unfortunately for Buzz, he’s been zip tied to a game board and is being attacked by new characters Ducky and Bunny, who are less than thrilled to have their position as the number one prize being taken away by the astronaut.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ducky and Bunny, which reunites Key and Peele stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. The pair first appeared in a ‘reaction’ video to the Toy Story 4 teaser trailer, which premiered in November. Playing stuffed animals, the pair hilariously recreated one of their most famous reoccurring Key and Peele sketches that had the pair reacting to new trailers, with much, much, much less swearing than the sketch typically involves. We love Buzz and Woody and we are living for Bo Peep, but Ducky and Bunny may be the new stars of Toy Story.

And Tom Hanks already has us crying. Cue “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” and turn it up so we can weep in peace.
