We started 2016 out with news from the 6ix God himself that Drake’s fourth studio album would be dropping in April. The rapper announced the new record on his OVO Beats 1 radio show, premiering the lead single Summer Sixteen at the same time.
Now Drake has again made a big announcement on his show, this time confirming that Views From The 6 will drop on April 29. Praise be to Drizzy.
The announcement came with an Instagram video that is sure to induce chills in even the most nonchalant Drake fans. Opening with a foggy view of the CN Tower, Drake takes a retrospective look at his professional and personal life.
The good memories are shown, like winning a Grammy and spending time with his friends and mother, as well as the not so good times, like his 2009 stage injury that resulted in surgery and months of rehab.
Young Money founder and Drizzy’s mentor Lil Wayne makes an appearance, as well as Drake’s father and his longtime producer Noah ’40’ Shebib.
The new album, Drake’s first since 2013’s Nothing Was The Same, is produced by 40 as well as Boi-1da and Nineteen85 and features Kanye West, Jay Z, Wizkid and Kyla.
Drake has yet to release the tracklisting for Views From The 6, but we do know that the album will be available exclusively on iTunes and Apple Music.
