For the past two years, singer Kesha has been battling her former music producer Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Sebastian, asking to be released from the music label Dr. Luke runs under Sony.
Kesha has accused the famous producer of drugging and raping her, causing her emotional damage that resulted in an eating disorder and shaming her in public. The case came to a head on in February when Kesha’s injunction requesting to be released from her contract with Dr. Luke was denied.
After the court ruling, a public outcry of support for Kesha rang out among the singer’s fans, including some very famous names. Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato also voiced their support on social media, with Taylor Swift even paying for Kesha’s legal fees. So, what’s happened since then?
During Zedd’s set the first weekend of Coachella, the rumoured return of Kesha to her first large-scale performance since the beginning of her legal filings against Dr. Luke took place to an ecstatic crowd. The duo performed Zedd’s track “True Colours” together, an appropriate song for Kesha’s current legal situation with powerful lyrics like “What we thought we knew, has been swallowed by the truth / It’s time to light the flame, right before it rains” showing off Kesha’s incredible voice. Slay, Kesha.
Zedd has now released the official audio for “True Colours” and it’s giving us all the feels.
The “Animals” singer is heading back to the stage under her own billing, playing the Mad Decent Block Party this summer.
Even with all her legal troubles, Kesha is still making time to give back. The animal lover has recently been named an ambassador for the Humane Society. Kesha celebrated the announcement during the Humane Society’s To The Rescue Gala this week with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler like the rock star she is.
Kesha also returend to the mic at the event, giving a brave and beautiful performance of Lady Gaga and Diane Warren’s “Til It Happens To You.” Warren played the piano for the song and we can’t help but notice the two women appear to work well together. #CollabPlease
Mother Monster tweeted her praise for Kesha, having sadly also experienced sexual assault at the hands of a music producer early in her career.
Killed it @KeshaRose. I could feel your pain. Girl these boys won't be in charge forever. The wisdom of women is rising. Let's get louder

So, what’s next for Kesha? Let’s hope the singer is able to release new music soon.
