What We Think A ‘My So-Called Life’ Reunion Would Look Like

Emmy-winning actress Claires Danes may now be known best for her role on Homeland, but before she was risking her life to protect the United States from terrorist attacks, she was showing us how excruciatingly painful it can be to go through high school in My So-Called Life. Very similar to Homeland, but the threat of literal death is replaced with the threat of death by embarrassment.

Danes appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this month to talk about the upcoming season of Homeland (ZOMG can’t wait!) and to reminisce about her time on set of My So-Called Life, which just turned 20 years old. Which makes us kinda old. Danggit.

Still close with the cast and crew of the series, which was unceremoniously cancelled after 19 episodes, Danes had a mini My So-Called Life reunion earlier this summer at a BBQ at her parents house. That’s sooooo Angela Chase of her, amirite? Of course, the cast of the cult series have all gone on to enjoy successful careers, but what would a 20-year reunion BBQ look like for their characters? We’ve made some guesses.

Angela Chase (Clare Danes)

Angela of course went Ivy League in her academic endeavors, hoping to find herself in college. She stayed in touch with Rayanne and Ricki over the years as she climbed the corporate ladder in media, interning at NBC and moving up to Producer at HBO (see: Rickie). Her busy schedule has left no time for marriage or children, though she’s had her share of serious relationships over the years.

Jordan Catalano (Jared Leto)

Thanks to Brian’s help with tutoring in high school, Jordan worked hard and made it through community college. After graduation, he used his business degree to work as a car salesman, moving up in the ranks and eventually owning two car dealerships. He married his former bosses daughter and had a few kids, but restless for the rock star life he felt he missed out on, Jordan begins an affair with a college student.

Rayanne Graff (AJ Langer)

Rayanne likely wandered for a few years after high school finished, dabbling in college courses and working minimum wage gigs in record and clothing stores. Trying her hand at a few different careers, a surprise trip to India finally put Rayanne on the right path. She now owns a chain of high-end yoga studios that focuses on empowering women through meditation and exercise.

Rickie Vasquez (Wilson Cruz)

After finishing high school in Three Rivers, Rickie spring boarded off his time in the Drama Club to move to LA and try to make it in show biz. His efforts as an actor proved somewhat fruitless, but after years of getting by on waiting tables and small parts in commercials, he hit it big when he sold a script to HBO based on his teen years.
